Stephan A. Stein
President & Chief Operating Officer, Executive Committee Member
Stephan A. Stein has more than 40 years of full spectrum debt, equity and merger/acquisition transaction and business management experience, initially as a practicing attorney in New York City, as a principal of emerging growth stage related companies; and thereafter as an investment banker specializing in nano-cap and micro-cap companies. In addition to his current role as President/COO, (previously Head of Investment Banking) Stephan is a founding member of the Buttonwood family of venture capital funds and currently serves as their Co-Manager. Stephan came to Joseph Gunnar & Co. in 1999 soon after its founding from Commonwealth Associates, the New York based merchant and investment bank, where he was Managing Director of Corporate Finance. Stephan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School.
